VMworld further enhances its cloud and IoT ecosystem

If there is something that characterizes VMworld is the amount of allied brands that meet in Barcelona to celebrate this appointment of VMware. With our companion of MuyComputerPro as special envoy we have noticed that above all things stand out three names: Dell, IBM and Vodafone. A trio that goes in the same direction as the host: cloud and IoT.

With an expected attendance of 10,000 people, it is difficult to miss a mark. HPE, NetApp, Veeam, AWS, Pure Storage or NVIDIA are just a representation of the ecosystem with which VMware is growing double digit globally and above this figure in Spain. “We see that there is a revival of the economy, so we have good prospects for the second half,” added María José Talavera, the company’s top manager in our country.

Among the main announcements of this event are the presentation of VMware vCloud NFV-OpenStack, the fastest way to deploy NFV services in production on OpenStack; the advances for its platform of data centers defined by software and the multinube with the new vRealize Suite 2017 and agreements like the one that they have arrived with Vodafone to improve the process of commercialization of its new services with the platform NFV.

The cloud, in the heads of all

But if there is a topic of discussion within VMworld 2017 – and throughout the technology industry – that is the cloud. The omnipresent concept has served to show how this technology matters not only to the sector but also to the end customers. In this regard, María José Talavera commented:

“All CIOs with whom I have a relationship are interested in the hybrid cloud, especially with two aspects: security and regulation. The truth is that the decision to go public cloud is being slower than expected and it is because of these two factors. Even so, one of our main growths at the company level will be motivated by the growth of these elements within our offer. ”

To drive this adoption VMware has also presented some proposals for the channel. Among them is VMware Cloud Provider, which allows you to migrate workloads and extend the scope of services offered by cloud partners. A community that already represents more than 4,000 representatives.

In addition, VMware CEO Pat Gelsinger announced the integration of Dell EMC cloud infrastructure alongside the OpenStack-ready VMware vCloud NFV platform. A step towards the consolidation of two companies that are under the same umbrella.

The Mobile Security Alliance (MSA) ecosystem has also been expanded. This conglomerate of security vendors with whom VMware works seeks to provide protection tools in digital work environments.
